The word alfalfa is derived from the Arabic phrase "al-fac-facah" which means "father of all foods" because it is so rich in nutrients. The alfalfa plant grows an extensive root system deep under the Earth's surface, which is what allows the plant to absorb more vitamins and minerals than others. It is one of the oldest herbs, cultivated in ancient Iran over 6,000 years ago! It’s a very gentle ally for children’s nutrition and it’s also fed to cows and farm/zoo animals.

OVERVIEW

Alfalfa is rich in vitamins and minerals, including A,D,E,K, B vitamins, biotin, calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, potassium, protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids; this provides the body with optimal nourishment, and is much more bioavailable (better absorbed by our systems).

It acts as a restorative tonic for women’s reproductive system; It helps increase breast milk, may relieve menstrual cramps, and may relieve symptoms associated with endometriosis and menopause.

It helps to purify the body, particularly the blood, and is considered a blood building herb.

It is shown to be effective against viral, fungal & bacterial infections.

It supports healthy digestion and liver health.

HOW IT WORKS WITH THE BODY

Considered a very safe nutritive herb for children and adults.

Since there is some evidence that Alfalfa increases immune system function, those with autoimmune conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), or other conditions where a hyper-active immune system is a undesirable symptom, should not consume a large amount of this herb.

Caution with excessive consumption during pregnancy or nursing.
